The Serious Idea Behind Our Funny School Security Video
School safety is a serious topic.
But that doesn’t mean every conversation about it needs to feel heavy.
Students today are growing up in a world filled with stressful headlines, constant notifications, and no shortage of reminders about the challenges around them. Schools have an important responsibility to prepare for emergencies and keep students safe, but they also have a responsibility to support student well-being.
That’s one of the reasons we created a humorous video about school security.
Not because safety isn’t serious.
Because students don’t need another message that makes them feel afraid.
They need confidence.
They need to know that the teachers, administrators, and staff around them are looking out for them. They need to know that the systems in place are there to help. They need to know that when they walk through the front doors each morning, they’re entering an environment designed to support their success.
Research consistently shows that students who feel safe and connected at school experience stronger mental health outcomes and a greater sense of belonging. Safety isn’t just about responding to incidents. It’s about creating an environment where students can focus on learning, participating, and growing.
That’s why we chose humor.
Humor helps people connect. It makes conversations more approachable. And in schools especially, it reflects something important: these are places filled with curiosity, creativity, friendship, and opportunity.
The goal of school security isn’t to make students think about security all day.
The goal is to help students think about everything else.
A science project.
A soccer game.
A school play.
A future career.
A friendship.
The best school security programs make those moments possible by creating environments where students feel supported, protected, and free to focus on being students.
Technology plays an important role in that mission.
The right security technology helps schools respond faster, improve visibility, and simplify operations. Technology simply helps school leaders do their jobs more effectively.
At Rhombus, that’s how we think about school security. Not as something designed to create fear - but as something designed to create confidence.
