Stop Manually Building Compliance Reports From Camera Footage

Rhombus + Claude Series

Every quarter, a facilities or security team somewhere in your organization loses a week to compliance reporting. Camera uptime across sites. Access logs for restricted areas. Incident summaries. All of it copy-pasted from three or four dashboards into a spreadsheet, formatted for an auditor, and sent off.

Nobody chose this workflow. It exists because the underlying systems — DVRs, access control panels, sensor platforms — each have their own export format, their own timestamp convention, and their own idea of what “a report” looks like. The only way to produce a unified view is for a human to build it by hand.

Unified reporting isn’t really a reporting feature. It’s a data problem. Solve it at the platform level and quarterly audits become a scheduled task, not a work stoppage.

Rhombus exposes camera health, access events, and sensor data through one API in one format. Anything that can consume JSON can build the report.

For the developers:

With Claude and the Rhombus plugin, compliance reporting becomes one prompt:

“Generate a Q1 compliance summary: camera uptime by site, any coverage gaps over 4 hours, and all after-hours access events for restricted areas.”

Claude pulls the data, correlates it, and returns an auditor-ready document. Schedule the prompt and the report writes itself every quarter.

The payoff: Compliance isn’t a camera feature — it’s a workflow, and workflows belong in software, not on someone’s calendar. When your physical security data flows through the same pipelines as everything else your team automates, compliance stops being a quarterly tax on your best people.
