Rhombus Now Integrates with Openpath to Make Enterprise Access Control Even Better

January 15, 2020

Openpath provides modern access control systems for enterprise. Their innovative solution uses your phone as a beacon to sense when you’re near a door, and with a simple wave or tap, the system automatically unlocks the door for you. Pretty cool, right?

At Rhombus, we strive to align ourselves with brands that aim to make the world a better and more productive place. Thankfully, Openpath feels the same way, and today, we’re excited to announce a new integration that will combine Openpath's sophisticated technology with Rhombus AI-powered security cameras.

Let’s dive in and explain how these two systems integrate with each other and how impactful it can be to your organization.

Setting It Up

Like with all Rhombus integrations, setting things up takes only a few clicks! If you use Openpath today, having it work with Rhombus is seamless.

Simply log into your Rhombus account and go to Settings -> Third-Party Integrations -> Openpath.

Once you're there – all you need to do is enter your Openpath credentials, link your account to Rhombus - and voila, you're ready to go!

You can then associate any camera with an Openpath reader and select which events you want to automatically record.

Capturing and Reviewing Footage from Entry Events

With the Openpath integration, Rhombus is automatically configured to capture the following events:

  1. When someone enters with any credential
  2. When a face does not match the corresponding credential

By combining Rhombus security cameras with Openpath, you can improve your access control experience by eliminating abuse from outside parties and verify who is entering your space at any given time.

In the Rhombus Console - motion, people, and vehicle events are automatically indexed in the video feed. This feature saves customers hours of investigative work daily and allows them to pinpoint and find specific events without having to manually rewind or fast forward through footage. This event indexing is carried over with the OpenPath integration, and all OpenPath events and activities are automatically indexed to allow you to filter or skip to a particular event, making verifications and investigations easy.

"We were truly excited to learn about the Rhombus integration with Openpath," said Lance Loveday, CEO of Closed Loop, a current Openpath customer. "We’ve loved the Openpath system from day one, and with this new integration, the capabilities that we’ll receive by using Rhombus’s security cameras will further improve the reliability of our access control system."

Facial Recognition that Automatically Learns

This integration also uses credential information from Openpath and connects it to specific names and faces. This ensures that you no longer have to manually review video footage and identify if the correct face is using the correct credential.

Now with Rhombus, the system will automatically learn people’s faces based on their credential and verify that the correct person is entering. It’s pretty slick if we do say so ourselves!

We’re truly excited about this integration with Openpath, and we can’t wait for you to try it out for yourself. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about Rhombus, feel free to reach out to sales@rhombussystems.com.
